Chlamydia

Chlamydia, a common STI that can cause infection among men and women. People infected usually don't have any symptoms.  It can cause permanent damage to a woman's reproductive system.  People who are sexually active can contract chlamydia. 


FEMALE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:

  • Vaginal white, yellow, or gray discharge
  • Burning sensation when urinating
  • Painful vaginal sex
  •  Inflammation of the cervix
  • Rectal pain, discharge, or bleeding from receptive anal sex, or by spread from another infected site (such as the vagina)

MALE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:

  • Discharge clear or white from the penis
  • Burning sensation when urinating
  • Pain and swelling in one or both testicles 
  • Rectal pain, discharge, or bleeding from receptive anal sex, or by spread from another infected site (such as the vagina)

   Gonorrhea, a STI that can cause infection in the genitals, rectum, or throat. Gonorrhea can be contracted by having sex without a condom with someone who has the infection. A pregnant person with gonorrhea can pass the infection to their baby during childbirth.

  • Increased creamy, yellowish or greenish vaginal discharge
  • Painful urination
  • Vaginal bleeding between periods, or after vaginal intercourse
  • Abdominal or pelvic pain
  • Itching and soreness in your anus
  • Rectal bleeding or discharge
  • Painful bowel movements

Herpes Simple (HSV-1)

  Trichomoniasis (or "trich"), is a common STI that most people who have trich cannot tell they even have it. Trich is typically common in women than in men.  Sexually active people can get trich by having sex without a condom with a partner who has trich. 


FEMALE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS: 

  • Genital redness, pruritic (itching), burning sensations
  • Thin to frothy (bubbly) clear, gray, white, or green-yellow discharge with a foul smell
  • Dysuria (pain/burning on urination), frequency 
  • Lower abdominal pains 
  • Pain during sexual intercourse

MALE SIGN AND SYMPTOMS: 

  • Clear or mucopurulent urethral discharge 
  • Itching or irritation inside the penis
  • Increased urinary frequency, and urgency
  • Pain during urination, ejaculation, or burning sensation in the penis after sexual activity
  • Soreness, swelling, and/or pain on the foreskin around the head of the penis

Herpes Simple (HSV-1)

 Oral herpes, typically caused by HSV-1, presents as cold sores on or in the mouth.  HSV-1 is spread by kissing or nonsexual contact with saliva. It is possible to get genital herpes if you receive oral sex from a partner with oral herpes. There is no cure. Outbreaks of both oral and genital herpes can be managed with antiviral therapy.

Genital herpes, usually caused by HSV-2 

infections are transmitted by persons unaware that they have the infection or who is asymptomatic when transmission occurs.  With the initial outbreak of HSV-2, a person can have repeated outbreaks, especially if they have HSV-2. There is no cure. Genital outbreaks can be managed with antiviral therapy. 


FEMALE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:

  • Pain or itching around the genitals
  • Swollen glands in your pelvic area, throat, and under your arms 
  • Painful, fluid-filled blisters in genital or rectal area
  • Leaking blisters that turn into sores
  • Pain and burning from urinating contact over sores
  • Flu-like symptoms such as chills, headache, fever, achy, fatigue

  • Pain or itching around the genitals

 Cold sore, a oral herpes lesion in or near the mouth. Cold sores are spread through direct contact with infected skin or saliva, such as kissing. Cold sores can be treated with an over-the-counter topical medication. Prescribed antiviral medication can decrease the duration of symptoms and speed up healing time.

  • Tingling, itching, or burning around the lips 
  • Noticeable reddish bump that hurts appears an becomes a blister
  • Small fluid-filled blisters often form along the border of the lips may also appear around the nose, cheeks, or inside the mouth
